We contracted with the company to renovate a bathroom and kitchen as well as the entire basement. The work, when completed, was beautifully done.
An array of subcontractors were brought in throughout the life of the project. Most of these guys were amazing and offered valuable insights and advice while the project was in motion.
We expected the work to be done within two or three months but were dismayed when the project stretched out over 15 months. While most of the subcontractors were neat and fastidious about our living space, there was some damage done to our oak floors by one team.
The refrain throughout the project was that “it will be beautiful when it’s done”, and this turned out to be true. Nevertheless, it was a stressful and frustrating experience. Perhaps that is true of all renovations.
UPDATE:
A few months after the completion date, I discovered a small puddle of water on the floor in the basement. Not a lot; maybe a few gallons. I contacted the general contractor and he arranged for our original plumber to return and take a look. There was a simple adjustment to be made in the sump pit, and we haven’t had a real problem since. Everything was covered under the company’s warranty, So no complaints there.
And then, when we had a very cold snap and weather in February, The GC texted us to remind us to let the faucets drizzle a little bit during the extremely cold weather to protect the pipes. I thought that was really considerate.

THP Builders came to our rescue after another remodeling company finished 2 of our 3 bathroom remodels and then quit on us. We discovered that most remodelers prefer not to work a project that another firm started. Fred Weiner was kind enough to step in and pick up the mantle mid-project. Fred and the THP Builders team are wonderful. There are very few great, honest contractors out there like this tream. Fred and his crews are incrediblly good at detail, execution and follow through. We had them do several projects including installing an electric floor in our basement. We had a problem with the themostat that no one could figure out, not even the manufacturer. The THP team figured it out and repaired it and has worked perfectly for several years. In another instance, Fred’s team showed up for an emergency issue with out water pipes. They diagnosed the problem and made the repair seemlessly and efficiently. We are going to have them do another large project soon and look forward to working with them again. You really could not find a better contractor.

Fred contacted me within 48 hours after I reached out for a quote to remodel the bathroom. I reached out to multiple contractors and I appreciated that Fred contacted me so quickly. He came over to check out the bathroom soon after we spoke over the phone.
Fred is extremely knowledgeable and provided a lot of good advice in the planning stage. I initially wanted just a few small updates, but his suggestions turned out to be the right choices, long term.
During the bathroom remodel, we unfortunately experienced multiple delays. The delays were due to confusion regarding the scope of the remodel/having the necessary permits and Fred having to renew his contractor license with the city of Evanston to obtain a permit. These delays ended up costing us more money and time.
In the end, we love our bathroom! It’s very pretty! Fred and his crew did a great job with the remodel. We appreciate everyone’s hard work.
